Metal Tech Alley (MTA) Companies Hit Top 100
Here we go again! Metal Tech Alley companies continue to innovate and now lead the region into the 4th Industrial Revolution in technology and electronic solutions! Business Vancouver’s list of Top 100 Technology Companies in BC features companies ranked by how many BC employees they have. Out of 100 BC Tech companies, only 5 are located outside the Lower Mainland and 2 of those are located right here in Metal Tech Alley (MTA)!
Pacific Insight Electronics, located in Nelson, was ranked at #33 while Rossland’s Thoughtexchange shows up at #69 on the BC employee list.
Thoughtexchange, located in downtown Rossland, is an organizational development consulting business and developer of decision making support software. Founded in 2009, Dave MacLeod Co-founder and CEO, Jim Firstbrook Co-Founder President and COO, and Amos Michelson Co-founder and Chairman provide services to large business and educational institutions. Thoughtexchange employs a total of 103 BC employees. No stranger to being recognized, Thoughtexchange was also the winner of the Innovation Showcase award at the 2016 BC Tech Summit, a Vancouver Technology conference host to 2800 business leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors, received a cash prize of $5,000.00 and additional services in kind from IBM. www.thoughtexchange.com
Pacific Insight Electronics (TSX:PIH) is a world-class leader of innovative lighting and electronic solutions that services the global transportation industry with clients including such familiar names as Ford, Harley Davidson, Caterpillar, Tesla and many more. Founded in 1989, Pacific Insight has offices in Canada, US, and Mexico, and a Canadian operations centre located in Metal Tech Alley (MTA) just a few minutes outside of Nelson BC, with a staff of 240 employees in BC. Pacific Insight also showed up at #7 out of the Top 20 Tech Companies based on revenues with earnings of approximately $1.27M in 2016. In an August 1, 2017 press release it was announced that Methode Electronic Inc. (NYSE: MEI), a global developer of custom engineered and application specific products and solutions, would acquire Pacific Insight by purchasing the company’s outstanding shares for approximately $144 million (CAD).
